WEBSITE INTRODUCTION:

11/24/2020

This website presents fifty years of my research gathering primary documentation relating to numerous 19th-century photographic history subjects.

These materials can be used to date and credit photographs of the time, expand biographical information about the individuals involved as well as for a multiplicity of broader historical research subjects.

Each section carries a more in-depth introduction as well as notes on how to best research that data.  Various indexes or a spreadsheet are included to make searching easier, but word searches can also be used.

Currently there are five, vastly different sections:

1. NEWSPAPER REPORTS OF NORTH AMERICAN INDIAN DELEGATIONS, 1850s-1890s.
Full transcriptions and a summary spreadsheet are provided.
2. PHOTOGRAPHERS WORKING IN WASHINGTON, D.C., 1850s-1880s.
    (Under construction)
3.  19TH C. BRITISH PHOTOGRAPHY JOURNALS and other relevant journals (1840s-1870s).
This section provides in-depth, annotated bibliographies, transcriptions
of important articles, and numerous indexes.
4. PAPERS I HAVE WRITTEN  or collaborated about various stereoscopic subjects, most of
which were published in Stereo World.
5. SURPRISE TISSUE STEREOVIEWS. This section is purely for the fun of sharing these
special images.

As my research is ongoing, active sections will be routinely updated, whereas, some sections are still under construction since they require rekeying and updating old data formats.  As with such a massive endeavor, there will be inadvertent omissions, typographs, etc., and since it is a work in progress, there may be notes to myself that can be ignored.  These are, however, outweighed by the massive amount of useful data that is included.

I am happy to answer questions or provide more information if available.  Comments, critiques and discussions are also welcome.  Enjoy!
